Good Labor Day morning!

What a fabulous Labor Day Tournament weekend we've had here at Buffalo Hill Golf Club!  And the finish to the Mixed Derby last night with a chip in on #9 by Laverne McGonigal was thrilling for her and the entire gallery!  Today wraps up a very successful Labor Day Tournament - thank you to all our members and guests for taking part in this premiere tournament - it's truly a one of a kind tradition!  A VERY SPECIAL THNAK YOU to our good member Bob Burch and Burch's Photo Digital for once again stepping up as the MAJOR TOURNAMENT SPONSOR of the Labor Day Tournament.

This week is "open play" at Buffalo Hill so come on out and enjoy the golf course.  Plenty of tee times are available throughout the week and weekend!

Have a good week and make time for yourself to enjoy golf with friends and family.

Steve Dunfee, General Manager

From the Golf Course

Asphalt Prep - The main road/cart path from the clubhouse to the bottom of the hill near #16 will be repaved next Monday, weather permitting, so we will be prepping the area this week.  We hope to widen the path as it goes down the steep slope adjacent to #17 tee.

Less-ter - In order to get some of our fall chores done, we will decrease our mowing frequency on the fairways, tees, collars and approaches from 3 times a week to twice a week.

Aerification - We will begin aerifying the tees, collars and fairways this week.  This may take us the rest of the year to finish.

Planet Air - After rolling the greens into submission during the Labor Day Tournament, they really needed some relief, so we will be Planet Airing the greens on Tuesday morning.

Dead Tree Replacement - We may find time to replace the dead trees soon.

What a weekend we had here at BHGC with the 72nd Labor Day Tournament!!  Great golf and much fun was had by all.  The course was in excellent shape and the entire field of players enjoyed good friends, good food and a competitive 54 holes of golf.  Thanks to our major sponsor, Burch's Photo Digital, the entire BHGC staff and all of the volunteer help!  If you have not played in this classic event, put it on your calendar for 2010, you won't be sorry!!

Now we can turn our attention to the next two events this month, the Dick Seddon Memorial Scramble on the 20th and the Prostate Cancer Awareness Scramble on the 27th.  Entry forms are available at the clubhouse and online at www.golfbuffalohill.com .

REMINDER!  - Tee times are being taken each morning starting at 8:00AM by calling the Pro Shop or stopping by in person.  Play begins each day at 8:00AM thru September 13th and changes to 8:30AM on the 14th and 9:00AM on the 28th.  Sorry the days are getting shorter!!

 Tip of the week:

Keep your equipment clean and dry for best performance and endurance.  Ever get caught in the rain and at the end of the round just put your clubs and shoes away without drying them off?  Water is the number one thing that will damage your equipment, keep them clean and dry and they will feel better and wok better as well.  Everyone has a towel on their bag, get into the habit of going over your equipment at the completion of your round.

 See you on the course,

This week's congratulations go to Bill Traeger.  Bill is this week's winner of the FREE lunch at Buffalo Hill.  Bill was up for lunch and dropped his business card along with his E Mail address in the jar and now he is the winner of a free lunch.  WAY TO GO BILL!  That's all you have to do to be a winner, or just leave your business card on the table and your waitress will deposit it for you.

All I can say if you didn't't make it up to Buffalo Hill over this past weekend you have no idea what fun you missed.  Of all the Labor Day Tournaments I've been involved with, the 2009 tournament has to be one of the best.  It was one of those deals "if you didn't have a good time it was your own fault".   Billy Angel was great both Friday & Sunday night; the "Smart Alex's" were outstanding Saturday night even though they had to move inside due to a thunder boomer Saturday night but it all worked out great.  There were a lot of golfers testing out their "Happy Feet" on the dance floor Saturday night which was great to see.  We are already starting to plan for Labor Day of 2010 so be sure to mark your calendars for Labor Day of 2010.  Lastly I would like to thank all of you who played in or attended the social events over the weekend.  You are definitely the ones who make the tournament such a success.

J Newgard,  Food & Beverage Manager
