Both Courses Scheduled for Re-Rating in 2027
Some of you mentioned that our courses need to be re-rated by the Montana State Golf Association. Both the Championship 18 and Cameron 9 are on the schedule to be re-rated in 2027.
How does MSGA rate a course? Using the USGA Course Rating System, a rating team evaluates how each hole plays for both a scratch golfer and a bogey golfer. They consider:
- Playing length: Yardage adjusted for elevation, altitude, wind, roll, doglegs and forced layups.
- Course challenges: Fairway width, rough, bunkers, trees, hazards, uneven lies, green size, speed and contours.
These measurements produce a Course Rating, which represents a scratch golfer’s expected score under normal conditions, and a Slope Rating, which measures how much more difficult the course plays for a bogey golfer relative to a scratch golfer.
The review will help ensure our ratings reflect the way both courses play today. Thank you for sharing your feedback!

Not surprised by this shift in weather! The mountains have been topped off with snow, and our temperatures have dropped!
Grass cutting has slowed; mulching leaves has increased. We’ve got a week or so left of mowing before we start spraying our winter fungicides. I will push the greens out as far as Mother Nature allows so we can maximize the length of time the fungicides can protect the plant.
